Graduate Marketing and Communications Coordinator

The George Mason University Volgenau School of Engineering’s Office of Graduate Recruitment and Enrollment Services invite applications for the Graduate Marketing and Communications Coordinator. The Graduate Marketing and Communications Coordinator will be responsible for the creation and implementation of graduate communication plans and marketing campaigns in the Volgenau School of Engineering, writing coherent and market-savvy content, and assisting with various communications and marketing projects using the University CRM (Customer Relationship Management) tool and other resources as needed.

In addition, this position will be responsible for being up-to-date on admission policies and procedures, and admission requirements with the ability to convey these policies to prospective students, faculty and staff; and assist with recruitment efforts and events.


  • Manage the creation and implementation of a comprehensive communications plan to actively engage with graduate prospective students;
  • Plan and implement communication strategies to improve response rate and action for prospective students, applicants, and admitted students;
  • Create and update email templates to effectively market graduate engineering programs;
  • Manage the graduate admissions and recruitment sections of the Volgenau School website;
  • Create content for and update program brochures and marketing materials used for recruitment purposes;
  • Work within a team to develop, implement and coordinate recruitment events;
  • Monitor communication statistics and analytics to determine which are effective and which require modifications or removal;
  • Represent the school and knowledgeably discuss graduate programs at graduate fairs, workshops, career fairs and special events;
  • Participate and assist with events, activities, and recruitment efforts; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience working in a university environment with CRM, communications, or marketing position; preferably in admissions;
  • Self-starter and ability to work independently;
  • Outstanding communication skills;
  • Demonstrated customer service experience;
  • Highly organized with great attention to detail;
  • Ability to make informed decisions;
  • Ability to take initiative and complete projects and/or assignments with little or no supervision;
  • Strong analytical skills with proven, effective application of those ideas into procedure;
  • Flexibility and willingness to occasionally work outside of normal business hours and extended days with ability to juggle competing priorities effectively; and
  • Ability to travel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience;
  • Knowledge of Banner, Hobsons Radius, Salesforce Target-X, and/or Micro Strategy;
  • Familiarity with marketing tools;
  • Prior admissions or related experience; and
  • Demonstrated experience in creating and editing digital marketing materials.
