Assistant Term Professor in Music Technology

George Mason University – The School of Music at George Mason University is seeking a dynamic educator for a full time term position in Music Technology to begin August 2018. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason’s academic and culturally inclusive environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Teach courses on recording, mixing, electronic composition, research skills, and programming;
  • Coordinate the operations of our student-directed record label; Coordinate our minor, Bachelor of Arts, and Bachelor of Music degrees in Music Technology;
  • Actively recruit students for the program; and
  • Provide mentorship to the students within the music technology programs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Music Business, Music Composition, or Music Technology or related field; or a Masters degree in Music with multiple years of professional experience in the music industry with proven record of success.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Music Business, Music Composition, or Music Technology or related field.
  • Extensive professional experience in the music industry with proven record of success;
  • Evidence of activity as a producer, recording engineer, scholar, composer and/or songwriter and performer;
  • Experience in program development and leadership;
  • Experience organizing national/international events related to the field.
