Associate Director of Enrollment Central

About the Department:

The Division for Enrollment Management supports core elements of the Mason strategic plan related to enrollment and new student enrollment strategy, retention and graduation. The mission of the division is to foster student success by connecting students and families to resources that open doors to a world-class education and the opportunities fundamental to the Mason student experience. The division strives to provide quality, timely, and efficient student service from recruitment through graduation and to collaborate with members of the Mason community in support of the university vision and strategic plan.

Responsibilities:

The Associate Director of Enrollment Central will oversee the student-facing services teams within the Division of Enrollment Management and other key offices to deliver centralized services. As part of this role, the incumbent will oversee the implementation, expansion, execution, and day-to-day supervision of a set of teams of professional support staff who assist students, both campus based and online, in navigating the administrative components of their enrollment at George Mason University. The teams under the Associate Director’s purview include the Enrollment Central team and a centralized phone operation for enrollment service. The incumbent will work diligently to expand services offered through this approach and to provide functional leadership for the expansion of these centralized services into an integrated online environment.

The position entails the oversite of the enrollment management student focused service center, inclusive of the following responsibilities:

  • Management of the daily operations of the Enrollment Central in-person student services, inclusive of oversight of documentation and training;
  • Supporting the daily operations and student support, reporting, training, and troubleshooting with stake holders to insure the Enrollment Central student services are executed as expected;
  • Oversee the centralized phone operations for enrollment focused student services;
  • Ensure the maintenance of a timely response rate to students (prospective and current) through the central phone operations that can be responsive to all enrollment related student services inclusive questions about campus based and online coursework. Develop and execute an innovation and expansion plan for enrollment focused student services to support a diverse student population that is both campus based and online;
  • Establish strong reporting associated with all services provided through Enrollment Central;
  • Provide guidance and specific oversight for the student services personnel focused on the innovative enrollment opportunities inclusive of fully online programming, ADVANCE, Wiley, and any other new initiative the university develops; and
  • Perform various other duties as deemed appropriate by the associate director’s supervisor or his/her superiors.

Qualifications:

The Associate Director of Enrollment Central will have a strong understanding of the higher education landscape and have experience assisting students in the enrollment and persistence processes.

  • Master’s Degree or Equivalent;
  • Experience working as a part of or in association with a one-stop student service center. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience;
  • 6-8 years’ of high level experience in higher education;
  • Prior management experience with a large and diverse teams;
  • Experience managing budgets;
  • Strong understanding of student services; and
  • Prior experience scaling up teams and services to meet a growing institutional need.
