Discovery Grant Administrator

The Global Education Office at George Mason University is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic person to administer the Discovery Grant Program. The Discovery Grant is a faculty grant program which provides funding for the development of study abroad experiences tied to regularly scheduled semester courses.

The Administrator will be responsible for administering the grants, assisting with logistical arrangements, processing payments, and coordinating with academic and administrative departments. The call for grant proposals will happen twice a year. The Program Officer will be responsible for approximately 30 grants per year providing opportunities for approximately 600 students. The administrator will by necessity liaise with the Office of Student Financial Aid, academic departments to support the grants, and the Global Education Office Scholarship and Grants Specialist. The administrator will be responsible for the call for proposals, selecting awardees, recruiting faculty to teach embedded course work, assisting faculty in developing course work on the ground, and program logistics.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must have the ability to keep track of multiple time sensitive tasks, pay great attention to detail, work with people of different cultures, have strong computer skills (word processing and spreadsheet management) as well has strong administrative background.

The successful candidate will have a BA in International Studies, Education, or Foreign Language, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and demonstrated administrative experience, a background in study abroad, higher education administration, experiential education or field studies.
