CINA Science Manager

The George Mason University, Criminal Investigation and and Network Analysis (CINA) Center for Excellence invites applications for the position of CINA Science Manager.

The CINA Center is part of the George Mason University’s Office of Research and is funded in part by a DHS multi-year, multi-fund grant. The Center’s primary objective is to serve as an academic hub for thought leadership and for the emergence of novel solutions to support the Homeland Security Enterprise in its efforts to effectively predict, detect, identify, monitor, track, disrupt, thwart, and ultimately dismantle Transnational Criminal Organizations (TCOs) and other illicit actors.


The CINA Science Manager will be managing progress in the CINA research portfolio, monitoring project life cycles, requirements, expenditures, and milestones; she/he will be summarizing progress in periodic reports for the funding agency, supporting coordination efforts among research teams and stakeholders, and providing broad coordination support across Center operations. This position is essential in maintaining daily and long-range program success.

Required Qualifications:

• Must hold a Master’s Degree in a field closely related to the scope of the Center (e.g. criminology, forensics, computer science, information technology, geography).

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must have demonstrated successful experience in project management.
• Must be flexible, well-organized, inquisitive, resourceful, detail-oriented, creative and ethical.
• Must have the ability to prioritize and juggle multiple tasks in a diverse and collaborative environment.
• Must be able to effectively coordinate and communicate with faculty, staff and administrators across multiple disciplines.
• Must be able to make real-time decisions.
• Must be able to influence/manage professional and administrative staff

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with project management with federal funding and/or in academic environments.

• Federal program management.
• Experience managing administrative staff.
PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification, NCURA (National Council of University Research Administrators) Certification, and/or SRA (Society of Research Administrators) Certification.
