Security Analyst

The George Mason University, Information Technology Services, Information Technology Security Office (ITSO)-located on the Fairfax, Va.-campus, is seeking a Security Analyst to assist in supporting ITSO applications and business processes.

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will assist in the support of threat analysis and incident response. The incumbent will also support applications and business processes associated with threat analysis and response. These applications and processes include vulnerability scanning, security information event management (SIEM) system, Threat detection and response, IT governance risk and control management and assessment, IPS/IDS systems, and other applications.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated progressively responsible experience with technical computing support environments;
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiuser enterprise systems;
  • Good working knowledge of Ethernet and TCP/IP networking, and associated IP and application protocols; and
  • Good working knowledge of common operating systems for workstations and servers including Microsoft Windows, Linux and Apple OS.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One or more of the following certifications: CISSP, CISM, GIAC, MCSE, or RHCE;
  • Good working knowledge of industry standard security controls, Center for Internet Security 20 controls, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO 27002 Standard, and PCI DSS;
  • Experience in vulnerability scanning, penetration testing, and dynamic application security testing of Web applications;
  • Higher Education work experience; and
  • SIEM Experience.

Salary $75,000-$92,000; commensurate with education and experience.
