4-VA Office Assistant

The George Mason University Office of the Provost is seeking a part-time (25 hours per week) enthusiastic, detail-oriented Office Assistant to support 4-VA activities. 4-VA is a collaborative partnership between six Virginia Universities powered by four initiatives- Collaborative Research, Course Redesign, Course Sharing, and Degree Completion. Our mission is to promote collaborations that leverage the strengths of each partner university and improve efficiencies in higher education across the Commonwealth of Virginia. Responsibilities:

This position will report to the Associate Provost for Academic Initiatives & Services. The incumbent’s primary duties entail a full range of administrative office support responsibilities including, but not limited to:

  • Providing high-quality general administration;
  • Assisting with budget and spending related to 4-VA;
  • Assisting with the grant processes including tracking, program assessment and writing articles and
  • Monitoring the 4-VA perpetual calendar to assist the team with meeting necessary deadlines.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a fast-paced office setting;
  • Experience with budget management;
  • Able to manage competing priorities in a demanding environment;
  • Strong computer proficiency, especially in Microsoft Office suite (Excel and Word);
  • Strong oral and written communication skills (writing sample required);
  • Experience communicating and interacting with constituents at diverse levels both internal and external;
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment;
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize multiple projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel; and
  • Experience in a higher education setting. 4-VA Office Assistant
