Development Coordinator (part-time)

The George Mason University, College of Science invites candidates to apply for our part-time Development Coordinator position. Responsibilities

Working approximately 15 to 20 hours per week, the incumbent will support Development function of the College of Science as the administrative backbone of the function, supporting the development officers through the accomplishment of administrative tasks, budget and office management, prospect research, office correspondence, gift processing, coordination with the GMU Foundation and the Dean’s Office, alumni engagement, and event logistics, as well as other tasks as assigned by the supervisor. The position will be integral to the effective prospect cultivation and stewardship and the general operations of the function.

Please note that this is a part-time position and the work schedule will not exceed an average of 29 hours per week.

Required Qualifications

• Intermediate to expert skill levels in MS Office Suite applications (e. g. proficiency in Microsoft Excel, the mail merge function in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Word in general, and Outlook.);
• Strong organization skills and attention to detail;
• Sophisticated written and interpersonal communication skills;
• Polished and professional presence to work effectively with external constituents;
• Ability to thrive in a team-dependent and collaborative work environment while also being able to independently work on projects;
• Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple deadlines;
• Ability to maintain confidential documentation; and
• Flexible schedule, with ability to support special events, occasionally during evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:
• significant experience working in a professional environment;
• some experience working in an academic unit within a higher education environment;
• exposure to fundraising principles; and
• a background in science or grant writing.
