Assistant/Associate Professor, Early Childhood Education

The George Mason University College of Education and Human Development is seeking to add a tenure-line faculty colleague (assistant/associate professor rank) in an inclusive Early Childhood Education program focused on preparing teachers, researchers, and other professionals to work with culturally, linguistically, and ability diverse children, birth through age eight, and their families. Candidates are sought in early childhood curriculum, instruction, and assessment, including (but not limited to) expertise in language and literacy, mathematics, science, and/or social studies pedagogical practices.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include conducting and disseminating research; teaching, advising, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students; and providing service to the program, college, university, and professional organizations.

Required Qualifications:

Required qualifications include an earned doctorate in early childhood education or a closely related field; an established or promising research agenda related to early childhood education; and a commitment to collaboration and democratic decision-making.

Preferred qualifications:

University teaching experience, including face-to-face and online learning formats; direct teaching experience with prekindergarten through third-grade children and families from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socio-economic backgrounds; and a commitment to preservice teacher preparation.
