Term Assistant Professor – Department of Social Work

The George Mason University, College of Health and Human Services, Department of Social Work invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, term faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor. Primary Responsibilities:

The primary duties of this position include teaching 4 courses, or 12 credit hours per semester, with an emphasis on teaching social work practice courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Advise students, attend faculty meetings, and serve on departmental committees. Perform functions related to teaching as specified in the GMU Faculty Handbook and other instructional duties as assigned. Participate in the assessment of social work courses. Engage in professional development activities related to teaching and learning, as appropriate. Maintain office hours or otherwise be available to students enrolled in courses.

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate in social work or a closely related field;
  • MSW from a CSWE-accredited program; and
  • Experience in teaching BSW and MSW social work courses.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Blackboard and online modes of instruction.
