Assistant/Associate Professor, Term Faculty – Data Analytics Engineering/Computer Science

The George Mason University Department of Computer Science and the Data Analytics Program, within the Volgenau School of Engineering, invites applications for a term faculty assistant/associate professor beginning Fall 2018. As Virginia’s largest public research university, Mason has recently achieved Carnegie Research I status and is eager to build on its reputation of conducting research of consequence. Responsibilities:

Successful candidates will be expected to teach full-time at the graduate level, advise students, participate in all aspects of the Data Analytics Engineering/Computer Science mission, and serve the profession.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants must have received a Ph.D. in computer science or a related field by the start date of the position, and should have demonstrated potential for excellence and productivity and a commitment to high-quality teaching. The successful candidate needs to have experience teaching in both the in-class and online environments in the areas of databases, data mining, data analytics, and data-intensive computing. An MS in computer science may be considered at the rank of instructor.

Preferred Qualifications:

We are particularly interested in candidates that have developed online courses in computer science, databases, data mining, data analytics, and data-intensive computing.

About the Program:

The M.S. in Data Analytics Engineering (DAEN) is an inter-disciplinary program involving eight departments in three colleges and is one of the largest master’s programs at Mason. Concentrations in DAEN include: applied analytics, bioengineering, business analytics, data mining, digital forensics, financial engineering, health data analytics, predictive analytics, and statistical analytics.
