Office of Transfer Services Admissions Assistant

The George Mason University Office of Admissions is conducting a search for a customer-service focused Admissions Assistant to staff the Office of Transfer Services. Responsibilities

  • Counseling prospective transfer students and current applicants;
  • Conducting individual meetings with students on a walk-in basis helping them navigate the admissions process;
  • Collaborating with other team members across the university and within the Office of Admissions to ensure superior customer service and drive enrollment; and
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned to support the Office of Admissions and Enrollment Central.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Superior oral and written communication skills;
  • Detail-oriented;
  • Comfortable working with diverse populations;
  • Ability to handle sensitive and/or confidential information and situations;
  • Computer literacy and willingness to learn new software applications;
  • Proven ability to work positively as a team member;
  • Philosophy of superior customer service;
  • Ability to assimilate large amounts of information quickly; and
  • Resourceful.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with Ellucian Banner software;
  • Previous experience with Salesforce CRM;
  • Prior admissions or customer service experience;
  • Bilingual;
  • Knowledge of military educational benefits; and
  • Knowledge of transfer admissions.

The Office of Admissions serves students Monday through Friday in the Office of Transfer Services from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Candidate is expected to work 20 hours a week.
