Term Instructor/Assistant Professor of Mathematical Sciences

The George Mason University Department of Mathematical Sciences, within the College of Science (COS), located in the vibrant Washington, D.C., area, invites well-qualified candidates to apply for a nine-month, one-year renewable Term Instructor/Term Assistant Professor position. Up to two candidates will be hired to start the semester of Fall 2018. The positions will have a teaching load that is determined according to the college’s workload policy and will consist of undergraduate courses, as well as some service duties associated with the department’s undergraduate degree.

Required Qualifications:

At a minimum, applicants must have an M.S. degree in mathematics and experience teaching mathematics in a high school or university setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in mathematics, mathematics education, or a related field;
  • Demonstrated strong pedagogical skill set;
  • Demonstrated experience providing interactive classroom instructional models in high school and/or university settings;
  • Strong intercultural competency;
  • Demonstrated experience with course design and/or curriculum development; and
  • Experience providing organized leadership in an educational setting.
