Custodian

The George Mason University, Freedom Aquatic and Fitness Center is seeking a Custodian to clean and care for the facility in a safe and healthy manner. Responsibilities:

  • Collect and bag trash throughout the building;
  • Sweep, mop, and vacuum stairs, floors and carpets;
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, locker rooms, and refill dispensers;
  • Assist with special event room arrangements;
  • Launder towels, cleaning rags, and dust mops;
  • Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies;
  • Wash walls and equipment;
  • Use ladders when required; and
  • Wash accessible interior windows and mirrors.

Required Qualifications:

  • Safely and independently move up to 50 pounds and use heavy equipment (e.g., floor buffer, carpet cleaner);
  • Attend occasional job-related meetings; and
  • Be respectful and sensitive to a diverse group of members and guests.

Hours:

  • Five to six nights per week (9:00 p.m.-1:00 a.m.); and
  • Saturdays (7 p.m.-11 p.m.) and Sundays (5:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.).

This position is subject to a criminal background investigation; employment is contingent upon the successful completion of this process.
