Adjunct Professor of English Composition for Multilingual Writers

George Mason University seeks applicants for adjunct faculty with a specialization in teaching writing to multilingual writers of English. This position begins on January 10, 2017, and ends on May 18, 2017. Attendance at a New Faculty Orientation from January 10 through January 12 is required. The successful candidate will co-teach courses designed for international students: a year-long, first-year composition course and graduate writing courses. Both courses require the candidate to have strong intercultural communication and collaborative teaching skills.

Required Qualifications:

  • M.F.A. in creative writing or Ph.D. in composition/rhetoric/writing studies, second language studies or interdisciplinary studies (Ph.D. in English also considered if teaching experience engages composition and/or second language writing scholarship);
  • Must have at least two years of experience teaching composition at the university level; and
  • Successful candidate will also have one or more of the following: experience teaching international/multilingual students, experience teaching grammar/linguistics, experience teaching graduate students, and/or research interests in second language writing or second language acquisition.
