Program Assistant, Law and Economics Center (LEC)

The George Mason University Law and Economics Center within the Antonin Scalia Law School is a national center for research and education that focuses on timely and relevant economic analysis of legal and public policy issues. To fulfill its education mission, the Law and Economics Center (LEC) provides dynamic training programs in law and economics to sophisticated audiences including judges, academics, lawyers, government authorities and staff members, and attorneys general and their senior staff. Responsibilities:

The Program Assistant will be responsible for supporting the LEC by providing administrative management of educational programs for academics, lawyers, government authorities and staff members, judges, and attorneys general and their senior staff. Working closely with all LEC program directors, program coordinators and assistants, the LEC Program Assistant will recruit and market LEC educational programs, manage program registrations and databases, act as primary contact for assigned programs, manage event timelines and task lists, prepare content for Web sites and marketing materials, prepare event materials, provide on-site program management, manage program close out and reporting, and provide regular reports on assigned division activities and events. The Program Assistant will act as regular support and back up support to other program coordinators and assistants.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have excellent organizational skills, with the proven ability to juggle multiple tasks and priorities effectively;
  • Self-starter, highly motivated and detail-oriented, accuracy driven;
  • Ability to interact with persons at all levels, including high-level legal officials and academics, in a professional manner and in different settings is critical;
  • Professional demeanor with strong and effective written and oral communication skills;
  • Superior skills with Microsoft Office suite as well as strong database experience;
  • Ability to work flexible hours (early mornings and evenings) and some weekends; and
  • Ability to travel.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, government, public policy, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred, as well as experience in event management. Public policy or legal experience is desirable;
  • Experience using Cvent and Adobe InDesign; and
  • Public policy or legal experience is desirable.

This is not a supervisory position.
