Kid Kare Attendant

The George Mason University Freedom Aquatic and Fitness Center on the Science and Technology (formerly the Prince William) campus is seeking part-time Kid Kare Attendants. Candidates must be available Monday – Thursday from 8:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. George Mason University has a strong institutional commitment to the achievement of excellence and diversity among its faculty and staff, and strongly encourages candidates to apply who will enrich Mason’s academic and culturally inclusive environment.

Responsibilities:

Kid Kare Attendants are responsible for supervising and caring for children in the Kid Kare Center. Duties include ensuring supplies are ready for scheduled activities; and arranging and taking part in indoor and outdoor play while ensuring the environment is safe, clean, organized and well-maintained.

Required Qualifications:

The successful candidate will:

  • Demonstrate a positive and productive attitude;
  • Be sensitive to the varying capabilities, interests and needs of the children;
  • Be mature (persons 17 years of age or older will be given a strong preference);
  • Have prior experience working with groups of children;
  • Will have or be willing to obtain CPR, First Aid, and automated external defibrillator (AED) certifications (pediatric and adult) within 30 days of hire; and
  • Have a current (or be able to obtain) tuberculosis skin test.

This position is subject to a criminal background investigation. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of this process.
