Senior Applications and CRM Analyst

The George Mason University Office of the University Registrar seeks a motivated, skilled Senior Applications and CRM Analyst to serve as part of the Information Technology team. About the Department:

The Office of the University Registrar actively supports and leads change while serving as a strategic partner to those the office serves, focusing on the ways to become more efficient, effective, and improving services to university constituents in meeting the needs of an evolving higher educational environment.


These are intended as an illustration of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position. Additional responsibilities include:

1. Projects and initiatives. Develop creative solutions for implementing new initiatives as they relate to the enterprise CRM, student data and associated processes. Apply a broad range of principles, practices and procedures to complete difficult and complex assignments, including project management activities such as defining scope, scheduling tasks/resources, and tracking and documenting status. Participate in departmental strategic planning activities.

2. Data and process analysis. Leverage knowledge of student data for extraction and loading into the CRM. This includes data cleansing and transformation for downstream operational and reporting usage. Retrieve and perform analysis on data extracted from Ellucian Banner, Degree Works, and associated data sources using TOAD and other BI tools such as MicroStrategy. Analyze current business processes. Identify opportunities for improvement with a critical eye toward CRM-based solutions.

3. Technical leadership. Provide technical leadership, training and support to staff, particularly associated with the CRM and Banner functionality. Guide and mentor team members on technical matters.

4. System and user support. Monitor, evaluate, test and validate application functionality including patches, point releases and upgrades. Collaborate with IT staff and vendors to provide operational support for end-users.

5. General. Perform various other duties where the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position. Provide general assistance to the department as requested and needed.

Required Qualifications:

Education or Training:
B.S. degree in computer science, information systems, business, a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
MS Windows, associated PC productivity tools, Oracle, including a strong knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL. Ability to lead a project team and mentor staff in advanced techniques. Ability to define customer business requirements in order to analyze and design new applications to satisfy their needs. Ability to analyze technical issues and problems effectively. Ability to understand complex relational database designs. Demonstrate a strong combination of systems, data and business analysis skills.

Level and Type of Experience:
Demonstrated experience working with an enterprise CRM. Experience utilizing project management principles and SDLC processes. Experience writing requirements documentation, design specifications and test cases. Experience performing technical user support. Experience testing system releases, patches and upgrades. Progressively responsible experience in analysis and design of business applications. Experience reporting from large complex databases.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
University experience, Banner and TOAD.

Level and Type of Experience:
Current demonstrated experience with Salesforce. ERP Student modules (Banner, Oracle) and related database design. Experience conducting training of both technical and nontechnical customers. Experience with at least two of the following applications: 25Live, Automic Applications Manager, Banner Document Management System (WebXtender), Blackboard, Caspio, College Scheduler, CourseLeaf, Degree Works, Dynamic Forms, Evisions, MicroStrategy and Salesforce.
