Administrative Support Manager

The George Mason University Division of Advanced Professional Teacher Development and International Education within the College of Education and Human Development invites applications for an Administrative Support Manager. We are seeking a well-organized, self-motivated, and energetic education professional to strengthen our dynamic team. This full-time staff position offers an opportunity to engage in meaningful work in a supportive environment, to interact with a diverse group of students and faculty, and to independently and collaboratively design and enhance our administrative and enrollment functions. Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities of this position encompass the following: (1) support an array of administrative functions with a focus on faculty services such as graduate course scheduling, registration and textbook orders; (2) monitor and track enrollment through proactive reporting and advising; (3) support adjunct instructor hiring processes as needed each semester; (4) oversee course evaluation processes to ensure every course is appropriately assessed each semester; (5) manage Professional Development course registrations and communicate course information to students in a timely manner; (6) provide superior office management and division support including responding to incoming inquiries, maintaining electronic files and databases, and scheduling and coordinating appointments and meetings with internal and external groups; and (7) plan and coordinate special events by scheduling catering and managing locations.

Required Qualifications:

Required qualifications include: a bachelor’s degree (or an equivalent combination of education and work experience); excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; a strong ability to learn and explain the complex details of division degree programs; proficiency with technology including advanced word processing, databases, spreadsheets, Web-based applications, and internet research; strong attention to detail; excellent oral and written communication using diverse platforms for multiple audiences; and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively. Other essential qualifications include excellent problem-solving abilities, high regard for accuracy and precision, and the ability to work effectively with a diverse population as a team member.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred qualifications include: proficiency in Ellucian Banner and other university systems, and demonstrated experience handling a wide spectrum of administrative and outreach duties in a university setting, including providing support and program information for division graduate programs through phone, e-mail, and in-person requests.
