Graduate Research/Teaching Assistants

Internal Search: Open to newly accepted or currently enrolled George Mason University graduate students only.

The School of Business seeks currently enrolled or new George Mason University graduate students only for an internal search for Graduate Research/Teaching Assistants for the 2017-2018 Academic Year for Accounting, Finance, Information Systems and Operations Management (ISOM), Management, Marketing and Business Foundations areas. Required Qualifications:

  • Excellent computer skills in all Microsoft applications;
  • Disciplined to complete all assignments by deadlines given with accurate details;
  • Reliable to work all hours as scheduled; and
  • Students currently enrolled as graduate students in a School of Business program at George Mason University will be highly preferred.

Eligibility requirements, as outlined in the George Mason University, Office of the Provost publication, “Guidelines for Appointing Graduate Research and Teaching Assistants.” George Mason University Graduate Research and Teaching Assistants must be:

  • Admitted to graduate study at Mason. Once admitted, remain in good academic standing with at least a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) and no recent unsatisfactory grades;
  • Enrolled in at least six hours for a full-time assistantship or three hours for a part-time assistantship (exceptions may be considered for students who need fewer than six hours to complete degree and graduate);
  • Achieved a score of at least 100 on the Internet-based TOEFL exam, if native language is not English (copy of test results required if hired); and
  • Achieved a score of at least 40 on the CELTD Assessment, if native language is not English. Information about the CELTD Assessment test at the Mason English Language Institute can be found online at: http://eli.gmu.edu/.

Review will begin immediately and recruitment will remain open until all positions are filled.

If a cover letter with required information (listed below) is not included with the application materials, the applicant will not be eligible for this position. A cover letter must include the following information:

  • The applicant’s graduate program at George Mason University;
  • Cumulative GPA;
  • Number of credit hours candidate will be enrolled in for the Fall semester;
  • Score on the TOEFL exam (if applicable); and
  • Score on the CELTD Assessment (if applicable).
