Transportation Programs Manager

The George Mason University Operations, Parking and Transportation Department—under the Facilities Management Department—invites applicants for the position of Transportation Programs Manager, formerly called the Transportation Coordinator. Responsibilities:

  • Oversees all aspects of transportation programs under general direction of the Director of Parking and Transportation;
  • Provides office and administrative assistance to the Office of Parking and Transportation;
  • Proposes new transportation (TDM) initiatives;
  • Supervises, monitors, and coordinates all transportation programs and services, including registration, marketing, administration, and reconciliation of employee and student commuter programs;
  • Acts as day-to-day contract administrator for the Mason Shuttle Program;
  • Primarily responsible for marketing and outreach of all university transportation options;
  • Coordinates and maintains the Commuter Choice program reimbursements and other financial incentives; and
  • Oversees advisory committee meetings, including maintaining committee member lists, agendas, and meetings.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Mid-level (significant) experience working in the transportation field, especially administering alternative transportation programs;
  • Significant experience creating marketing plans for new transportation initiatives and marketing the use of current programs;
  • Significant experience in contract administration, monitoring of contract terms, writing request for proposals, etc.;
  • Demonstrated administrative work experience in day-to-day administration of programs, preferably in parking and transportation;
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Experience in customer service and general office support;
  • Must be a team player, assisting other department staff in their work as needed;
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain working relationships with campus community, and transportation vendors and agencies providing service to campus;
  • Able to compile, write, and present professional-level reports and presentations;
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and explain governmental regulations; and
  • Mid-level experience with conducting surveys.
