Medical Data Specialist/Receptionist

Student Health Services invites current George Mason University employee applicants only for an internal search for an enthusiastic and energetic individual to serve in a Medical Data Specialist/Receptionist position. Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for assisting the front office staff, including answering phones, greeting walk-in patients, scheduling patient appointments, scanning, medical record copying, filing and billing. The position will report to the Clinic Coordinator.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Must have the ability to schedule students for health appointments using an electronic format and greet walk-in patients, including recognizing patients who may be experiencing more severe symptoms or distress;
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks; and
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings and occasional Saturdays.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year of medical office front desk experience or other outpatient clinic experience;
  • Knowledge of medical office procedures, medical terminology, and electronic health records; and
  • Basic CPR certification.
