New Online Projects Coordinator

The George Mason Office of Digital Learning is seeking an enthusiastic and energetic individual to serve as New Online Projects Coordinator. Mason has embarked on several new initiatives to develop fully online programs. The principle area of work for this position is the coordination and management of the university’s development of the new fully online programs and courses, which serve the university’s strategic online initiatives. Currently these include the Online Virginia Network and Mason-NOVA Fastlanes initiatives, plus other related online course development priorities. These are complex, overlapping initiatives that require:

  • Diligence in coordinating the many parts of implementing each venture;
  • Managing queues of program and course development meetings;
  • Coordinating and tracking contracts with individual faculty and departments, and their accompanying financial payments; and
  • Coordinating the launch schedule of each set of programs with the rollout their requisite sets of new online courses.

Duties for this position include:

  • Serving as a key member of the Director for Digital Learning’s support team, providing support for the Director and managing these initiatives;
  • Providing high-level oversight of timelines and work deliverables for all projects and initiatives of the Director, assembles materials for appointments and meetings; and
  • Providing support in creating/developing presentation and workshop materials.

Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree, or equivalent training/experience, plus significant demonstrated experience managing complex projects with comprehensive scheduling and coordination (three to five years is preferred);
  • Experience in a fast-paced work environment with multiple concurrent projects in play is essential;
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills;
  • Proficiency and comfort with computer technology and a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks accurately under pressure;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with and relate well to staff at all levels of the university;
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team;
  • The maturity and ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism; and
  • Ability to work and communicate with a diverse office and university population are required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A master’s degree is preferred;
  • The successful candidate will have a desire/willingness to learn and grow professionally, and will also have demonstrated abilities to exercise independent judgment and to prioritize and organize work; and
  • Personal experience with online higher education programs, and especially personal or professional experience with online programs.
