Assistant/Associate Professor, Early Childhood Education

The George Mason University College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) invites applications for a faculty colleague (Assistant/Associate Professor rank) in an inclusive Early Childhood Education program focused on preparing teachers and other professionals to work with culturally, linguistically, and ability diverse children, birth through age eight; and their families. Responsibilities:

This position is structured as a term (non-tenure track) teaching-focused position with a base teaching load of four courses per semester. Candidates are sought in several areas of current need, including but not limited to early childhood curriculum and instruction focused on language and literacy, mathematics, and/or science education. Duties include teaching, advising, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students; and providing service to the program, division, college, university, and professional and community organizations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate in early childhood education or a closely related field;
  • Direct experience working with young children and families from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds; and
  • Commitment to collaboration and democratic decision-making.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • University teaching experience, including face-to-face and online learning formats; and
  • Demonstrated commitment to preservice teacher preparation.
