Term Instructor/Assistant Professor of Business – Business Analytics

The George Mason University Information Systems and Operations Management (ISOM) area of the School of Business seeks applicants for a Term Instructor/Assistant Professor of Business with a specialization in teaching Business Analytics to begin August 2017. The School of Business offers a number of business analytics courses, which cover the full spectrum of activities associated with data-driven decision-making, including data collection, data sources, data quality, statistical data analysis, basic optimization, and presentation and interpretation of results with special attention on their business applications and uses. The ideal candidate will have a background and intellectual inclination consistent with the offered classes. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities:

The position involves teaching undergraduate courses in Business Analytics in the School of Business. Additional teaching expertise in other topical areas covered by the ISOM undergraduate major will be considered a plus. Teaching load for this position will be 4:4; there is opportunity for teaching in summer for extra compensation. Other responsibilities include service to the ISOM area, School of Business, and the university.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field;
  • Candidates must have experience teaching college-level analytics and/or statistics courses;
  • Expertise in using Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, Excel Data Analysis, and Excel Solver; and
  • Good citizenship in terms of service is critical as is the ability to work well with colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. (in a relevant field).
