Internship Coordinator, Office of Career Services – School of Business

The George Mason University School of Business is seeking an energetic, organized and detail-oriented Internship Coordinator to support the Office of Career Services. This is a full-time staff position with full benefits. Responsibilities:

The Internship Coordinator position has responsibilities in the following areas:

Advising Students in Individual Consultations:

  • Planning for internships in a variety of business disciplines;
  • Assisting with career development needs (i.e., resume review, interview skills, etc.); and
  • Preparing students on all aspects of internship search process (for both credit and non-credit opportunities.)

Employer Outreach:

  • Identifying, coordinating and implementing employer outreach while maintaining knowledge of industries and industry trends for the purpose of engaging the local/regional business community to participate in hiring our students for both credit and non-credit opportunities.

Internship Administration:

  • Developing and executing all administrative matters associated with the Internship Program in the School of Business, which includes processing all necessary applications, forms and agreements related to student participation in the Internship-for-Credit classes.

Workshop, Orientation and Internship Development:

  • Developing and presenting internship-related workshops and orientations throughout the year for the purpose of educating and engaging students in the Internship Program in the School of Business; and
  • Creating and implementing new initiatives, programs, and services to better enhance the overall internship experience of School of Business students.

Special Project Work:

  • Creating and managing projects as assigned by the Director of Career Services to help achieve the goals of the Internship Program and Career Services office.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Excellent computer skills with working knowledge of all applications in Microsoft Office, database expertise, and e-mail and network applications;
  • Ability to effectively communicate and work with others to achieve results; and
  • Good citizenship and the ability to work well with colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in counseling or higher education administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Experience working in a higher education environment;
  • Experience working with the implementation of internship programs and services for business students preferred;
  • Knowledge of business careers and the local/regional business community;
  • Ability to develop, implement and manage academic programs and services;
  • Excellent communication, analytical, strategic thinking and organizational skills; and
  • Proactive problem-solving skills, attention to detail, ability to motivate, and ability to learn new tasks quickly.
